Joy is blessed to be the Executive Director of an amazing nonprofit called Clothes For Kids. Clothes For Kids provides a free, comprehensive school wardrobe (including brand-new socks, underwear, and shoes) to low-income students in our community. Any child who attends public school (Head Start through 12th grade) in Snohomish County or the Northshore School District of King County and qualifies for free/reduced lunch at their school automatically qualifies to receive school clothes from Clothes For Kids.
We serve every school district in Snohomish County, including the Northshore School District. Parents can request a Clothes For Kids referral form at the school office, and that one form is all they need to bring when they come to shop at Clothes For Kids.
Each school year, thousands of students shop at Clothes For Kids in a retail store environment where they can try on and choose their own clothes with their families. Each student leaves the store with a week’s worth of high-quality clothing, shoes, and extras like books and toiletries – all at no cost to their family. The only thing that is missing from back-to-school shopping at Clothes For Kids is the cash register!
Clothes For Kids is funded and supported entirely by our community, and we receive no government funding. Donations of new and gently-used children’s clothing make up the bulk of our clothing inventory, and with only 2.5 paid staff we rely on over 60 regular volunteers allow the program to operate smoothly and efficiently. We generate revenue through two annual events, the Transforming Lives Breakfast coming up on October 18th and the Celebrate the Children Auction in April.
Joy Ingram is honored to be a member of Heart to Heart’s generous community.
